T minus seven days

Here's a song i'd like to be played at my funeral, in case i die before i think of a different song.

I choose to name my blog "A Strayan Perspective", because "Australian" is one of my identities that i don't often think about very much. In fact, i often try to play it down in recent years, because i see many people who emphasise this identity through Southern Cross tattoos, rabid flag-waving and "Fuck off, we're full" stickers, and i am ashamed that i share this identity with them.

But i've never been one to do stuff that everyone else is doing, so the way i will "do" Australian is different to many. And this identity is about to come to the forefront, as i'm about to take my Strayan-ness to a foreign land, where i will know nobody - and nobody knows me. I am flinging myself into the deep end of adventure, and it's sink or swim. I hope i swim, and i also hope i use less cliches as i get better at blog writing.

This was just a practice entry. I shall improve, i promise.
